Installing Mathematica for Network Licenses

Requirements

Mathematica is available for Windows, Unix, Linux, and Mac OS X. For a complete list of platform availability, click here. Any supported machine can act as a client for running Mathematica, provided the following two conditions are met:
  • The client has access to the Mathematica files, either locally or from a file server on the network.
  • The license server running MathLM is available on the TCP/IP network.
SERC NOTE:
Make sure you are able to resolve sunlx2_17.serc.iisc.ernet.in:Command is

#nslookup   sunlx2_17.serc.iisc.ernet.in
Response you must get is

Server: 10.16.25.15
Address: 10.16.25.15#53


Name: sunlx2_17.serc.iisc.ernet.in
Address: 10.16.4.40
If you are not getting this response please check your DNS settings. Use following url for setting DNS.

Make sure that you are able to reach sunlx2_17.serc.iisc.ernet.in  using following test.

Command  is

#telnet sunlx2_17.serc.iisc.ernet.in 16286

Response you must get is

#Trying 10.16.4.40
#Connected to sunlx2_17.serc.iisc.ernet.in.
#Escape character is ‘^]’.

To install Mathematica:

For Windows

Installation of Matlab through network

  • Go to Start -> Run

  • type \\10.16.4.96\shares and click on OK
  • Go to Mathematica_13.2

 

1. Double Click on the executable “Mathematica_13.2.0_BNDL_WIN_EXP.exe” . The startup window appears.

The Download Manager opens and immediately begins downloading Mathematica’s installation files to your Downloads folder.

Wait for the download to finish.

 
The Download Manager allows monitoring the progress of the download, as well as pausing it and resuming interrupted or paused downloads.
 
2. Select Launch.
 
3.  The Setup dialog appears on your screen. Click Next to begin the installation process.
 
2.The Mathematica Setup window appears. Click Next. By default, Mathematica is installed in the directory C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica\13.2. To choose another destination directory, click Browse. The follwoing windows will appear during the installation. You can specify directories as you desire on your PC. Click Install when you are ready to begin the installation.
 
3.Once all the files are copied to your disk, installation is complete. Click Finish.
4.After installation, the first time when you start Mathematica, the following window with password dialog box appears. Select “Other ways to Activate”.
 
5.Click on “Connect to a network license server” Then enter the name of the license server running MathLM in the text field provided.
6.Then enter the name of the license server as sunlx2_17.serc.iisc.ernet.in in the text field provided and click on “Activate”.
7.Accept the terms of agreement by clicking on the box and then click on OK.
8.A welcome screen as shown below appears. Now you are ready to use Mathematica.
