Installation Guide CSD – CCDC 2017

 

Please Note:

  • Users will have to fill and submit the CSD License request online form:

Students Form

Employees Form

  • After which the users will have to follow the below Installation procedure to download & install the csd package in their systems.
  • The  License activation will be performed through remote access only
  • The users will have to visit SERC Room No.109 with the following information for license activation:

                  1) Machine IP

                  2) Machine Username & password which has admin or root privileges

How to enable Remote access?

For Windows PC:
  1. Open System by clicking the Start button icon, right-clicking Computer, and then clicking Properties.
  2. Click Remote settings. Administrator permission required If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Make sure the foll are checked/enabled in the window dialog box:

Under Remote Assistance, check “Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer”

Under Remote Desktop, select “Allow remote connections to this computer”

4.  Click “Apply and Ok” to close the window dialog box.

For Linux PC:

  1. Make sure you have installed “openssh-server” package & the service is running.
  2. To Install OpenSSH package:

 Ubuntu: Open a Terminal and type

sudo apt-get install openssh-server

You may check the status of service by running command

sudo service ssh status

To start the ssh service use the below command

sudo service ssh start

 Centos/Fedora: Open a Terminal and type

yum install openssh-server

You may check the status of service by running command

service sshd status

To start the ssh service use the below command

service sshd start

Installation Steps:

Before You Install

Before you run the installer:

  • Windows Systems —
    Get the name and password of the administrator account on your computer. The installer modifies the system registry during installation.

  • Linux Systems —
    Get the root password. You can install CSD software without superuser privileges, however, it limits certain installation options. For example, if you want to setup symbolic links to the csd command, install product files in a protected folder, or edit the system boot script, you must have superuser status.

  • Macintosh Systems —
    Get the name and password of the administrator account on your computer. The administrator account is the user account you set up when you configured your Macintosh system;  During installation, you must enter this name and password in the Authenticate dialog box, shown below.

Consider disabling virus-checking software and Internet security applications on your system for the duration of the installation process. These applications can slow down the installation process or cause it to appear unresponsive (or to hang).

Step 1: To Start the Installation

To install through network from SERC

For Windows

Installation of CSD through network

  • Go to Start -> Run
  • type \\10.16.4.96\share_2016\CSD-2017 and click on OK
  • A window will open. All the versions of CSD have been dumped and shared for network access here.

  • Click on “CSDS-2017-Windows” folder. Inside this folder you will find the following.
    • From here copy the ” csds-windows.exe” file  to your machine (You can also directly install from the network directory also.)
    • Double click on ” csds-windows.exe” and the installation will start.

For Mac
Installation of CSD through network
Follow either of the methods below, Terminal or GUI

    • Through Terminal:
      Login as superuser into your Mac system and make a directory where you can mount the files. For example

    • # mkdir /opt/

    • Now open a terminal. At the prompt type
    • # mount -t smbfs //guest@10.16.4.96/share_2016/CSD-2017 /opt/csd_2017(or)# mount -t cifs //guest@10.16.4.96/share_2016/CSD-2017 /opt/csd_2017

OR

    • Through GUI:Go to finder and press (command + k) or click the option “connect to server”
    • Type the following”cifs://10.16.4.96/share_2016/CSD-2017″ or “smbfs://10.16.4.96/share_2016/CSD-2017” and press enterIn the pop up box, enter “guest” as username as registered user and press enter, password not required.
      In the terminal mode at the hash promptNow change directory to “\\10.16.4.96\share_2016\CSD-2017\CSDS-2017-Mac\”. Double click on csds-2017-osx.dmg.The installation starts.

For Linux
Installation of CSD through network
  • Login as superuser into your linux system and make a directory where you can mount the files.

  • # mkdir /opt/csd_2017

  • # mount -t cifs //10.16.4.96/share_2016/CSD-2017 /opt/csd_2017 -o guest

  • # cd /opt/csd_2017

  • Now change directory to “CSDS-2017-Linux-64Bit”  /  “CSDS-2017-Linux-32Bit” for 64 Bit OS and 32 Bit OS respectively  and at the prompt type ./install and press enter.

    # cd CSDS-2017-Linux-64Bit

  • #[CSDS-2017-Linux-64Bit]# ./csds-linux-x64.run

  • The installation starts.

    The next steps are as given below in the installation section.

Step 2: Language Selection

Step 3: Review the License Agreement

Review the software license agreement and, if you agree with the terms, select Yes and click Next.

Step 4: Installation Path

Step 5: Select the Components

If you are installing for the first time, select all the components.

Step 6: Software Registration

Select “Register later via any of the CSD Software Components”

Step 7: Start the Installation

Step 8: Installation Complete

Step 9:  Instructions to get CSD 2017 License:

  • The users will have to visit SERC Room No.109 with their PCs Admin/Root login credentials such as IP, username and password.
